| June, 15th 2008 - SKETCHES AND ILLUSTRATIONS - LONG TIME NO UPDATE! |
I haven't been able to upload any new stuff to my host due to some... newly imposed restrictions... which I've bypassed now. So let's go to what matters... NEW PICCIES! Usually I post one pic per thread but because I don't remember the original dates of every single one of them, I decided to post all of them on this one. Enjoy :)! Something I did while I had nothing better to do XD. It's another coloring practice illustration, but because I usually get tired of them really fast, I don't know if I'll get to color it 9.9. I like it black and white though . Another Sketch Strip! Hooray! Considering there's only 2 drawings here, I'm not sure if "sketch strip" is the appropriate title for it. Well, it IS a strip and it does have 2 sketches so i guess it's ok 9.9. |
| April, 4th 2008 - DARK AND DIRTY! |
It has been a while since I last uploaded anything. I truly am a procrastinator! |
| June, 28th 2007 - COOL KIDS |
Long time, no update. What can I say, I'm lazy... SUE ME! Anyway, I drew these kids because I wanted to show them as an example for an upcoming work that hopefully I will get. They are a bit too hardcore for the job itself, specially since one of them is dressed as Freddy Krueger ( I'm a big fan of him ever since I was little *-*), but I hope the style of the characters will interest my employer. I still have a few things to improve on them, but the style is pretty much defined. Pray for me for I need the money *fingers crossed, hands and feet*. |
| June, 06th 2007 - OLIVE |
Colouring it's not one of my strong points, so I've spent these last few days trying out new techniques, reading and watching tuts. This pic is the result of what I learned. I like how it turned out, but I'm not too sure about the colours though. |
| May, 12th 2007 - BADASS... 02 |
O.k., I lied... This update has nothing to do with gesture drawing but at least there's some "anatomy" in it 9.9. Not everything is lost! I wanted to practice muscles (again) and colouring, since the last time I've coloured something was a while ago. I like the final result, but I had a little trouble with the muscles, and the colouring well, you can see that is everything but perfect. I don't dislike colouring, but I prefer drawing. I get bored very easily, reason why I usually go for simple colouring methods. I drew this fellow hairy because,... well, I've always liked how Jim Lee used to draw Wolverine so I figured I'd give it a try to see how it would look like. It sure took a while to finish all the little hairs! While I was inking it, my brother said he looked like an older version of Sakuragi Hanamichi, from Slam Dunk!, and asked me to colour his hair red. The background is a photo I found using Google. I used filters to alter its look a bit, changed the overall colour to a yellowish tone, and added a few lights. ![]() |
| April, 25th 2007 - BEAUTIFUL BOYS |
Another practice pic made on Manga Studio! I'm still painfully slow at drawing and toning and not quite familiar with the program itself, but I'm getting there 9.9. This illustration's objective is to practice with Manga Studio's tools but also to define the style I'm going to use on my very first comic book! Because I'm very fond of Yaoi (gay) manga, the theme will probably be yaoi. My influences are Ayami Kojima and Kotobuki Tarako, both terrific artists whose drawings not only express feeling, but are also beautifully drawn. Overall, I think it looks pretty good! There are a few problems here and there, most of them deriving from not being used to drawing directly on a program, but I think it looks quite pro :D. ![]() Next update: anatomy drawings and gesture drawings drawn directly on Manga Studio! I need to get used to it in order to finally make my comic book >o<! |
| April, 20th 2007 - BACK PAIN |
I drew this pic to post on my recently created blog at LiveJournal. My inspiration for this pic was this nasty back pain that I've been having for a few days now. I so hope it goes away soon >o<, I can't even sit on a chair properly! Anyway, this piccie was made from scratch on Manga Studio. I'm still learning my way around it, hoping to be able to use it to make my long awaited comic book and so far I'm more than satisfied with the results :). It seems to be simple enough, the tones look good and the line looks really professional. Manga Studio has a great line control, that lets you adjust it to be as curvy or straight as you'd like, something that I think Photoshop doesn't have, or at least if it does, it's not on plain sight.

| March, 24th 2007 - KITTY: RATED M FOR MATURE |
PHEW! Another one in such a short time! On this one, I was a bit more careful about anatomy, but not too much careful. Just like Xtina, I made Kitty in a sexy pose, and I drew her nude because I love drawing the human body :). I love the way it turned out, The body has a very nice feeling to it, and I like her proportions.

Working it's taking its toll on this site's update.

| November, 30th 2006 - XMAS 2006! |
My contribution for Xmas of 2006! Ah, Christmas... The food, the presents, the decorations, the Christmas tree, the presents ( yes, I wrote it twice because the presents are the most important :D. Maybe this year I'll get an Xbox360... or maybe not>o<... one can dream).
I started with a sketch of 3 kids in a box and I pretty much built the drawing from there.

| October, 5th 2006 - ELPANAMA... AGAIN! |
It's Panama again. Why you ask? I created a new brush on Photoshop and I wanted to try it out. I wanted a quick way to make more realistic leaves, and I copied using the same reference photo for comparison sake.

| August, 22nd 2006 - CHINA! |
This one took me 30 minutes to make. Just kidding ;D. Actually it took a lot longer than the previous ones. I lost myself in details, trying different things on the trees and mountains, but still I feel something is lacking. I need to do more research on how to make trees. Like on the previous illustrations, I copied this from a photographic reference of china, but I've changed a couple of things from the original, such as the mountains and trees. Anyway it looks good so i'm happy with it :D.

| August, 21st 2006 - SAVE THE PENGUINS! |
Again I´ve used a photo as a reference. This one took longer. A bit more than 2 hours, but I had attenuating circumstances! I had to scan some stuff at the same time I was doing the picture. I also had a bit of trouble doing the water. The colours I used never seemed to look quite right. But it's finished and I think it looks cool. Aren't the lil penguins adorable *^-^*?

| August, 13th 2006 - NEW ADDITIONS TO PHOTOS SECTION! |
| YES! I've finally taken pictures of the newest additions to my collection! Check them out ;)!
ROBOCOP TERMINATOR |
| August, 12th 2006 - EL PANAMA! |
I copied this from a photo of Panama. It took me about an hour and a half to do it. Not bad... On the other hand, it took a lot longer to make the flares LOL. Oh well, all for practice sake. My objective for this illustration was to find an easy and sort of quick way to make backgrounds, to use in animations. What do you think :D?
|
| August, 4th 2006 - COCK-A-DOODLE-DOO! |
And yet another practise illustration coloured on Painter. Once again, I've copied the animal pretty much as it was from the reference photo. Damn. The road to perfection is truly a long and rocky one, but I know I'll get there soon enough 9.9. Until then, enjoy my "failures" ;).

| August, 3rd 2006 - GIVE HIM MEAT! |
I coloured this dino, at work, on Painter, once again for practice sake. The idea for this picture was to colour from a photo, but to give it a more fantasy sort of look, more expressiveness, and not make it too real. Unfortunately for dino here, he didn't turn out how he was supposed to be, because I restricted myself to much to the photo I've copied him from. So to prevent him from becoming extinct, I've finished him up and I've added a touch of humour to him with the steak. I simply love him, is so cute isn't he ^-^? By the way, the steak was COPIED from a real steak and it wasn't just pasted on the illustration. It does look real doesn't it ^^? I'm so proud of my dino and his steak *^-^*!

| August, 3rd 2006 - GOSSIP |
A colouring exercice. This piccy was copied from Norman Rockwell's "Gossip" but a few changes were made to the two old ladies so that they would have a more modern look. I think they look cool actually :D. It took me a while to finish them though ^^. I'm also glad they don't look too blurred like some piccies made in Photoshop sometimes do.

| July, 31st 2006 - GRAND OPENING! |
| Well, after a lot of dueling with Illustrator and Flash, I've finally finished this damn site. It was a fierce battle indeed. I started by modelling the icons for the hyperlinks on Illustrator and when I had finally finished them and tried to export them to swf format, guess what happened... It exported it HORRIBLY! The icons were all distorted and the colours were different! I tried to save them with different configurations and in different formats, but I never got a half decent result! So either I am not smart enough to operate these complicated applications or maybe they all simply SUCK! I ended up exporting just the outline of the icons, using an old Illustrator format and then colouring them all over on Flash. Someone should create a standard for these crappy vector applications because they are giving a lot of good people headaches, namely people who paid a fortune for them. Enough flaming vector applications! Let's flame Dreamweaver! Dreamweaver is a decent application most of the times, but sometimes even it doesn't follow the standards and does things such as not putting the f****** tic tac toe symbol in front of the colour in the code. IE accepts that sort of mistakes, but other browsers, like Mozilla Firefox for example, DO NOT. There goes compatibility! So don't be surprised if you see a colour which doesn't look right on the whole layout, or if the spacing sometimes looks weird. I've tried to test the site as much as possible but I can't garantee that I haven't missed something. But, all is well when it ends and the site is finally up. To comemorate such event what's better than to start with a self-portrait of yours truly. I've always found myself rather photogenic :D.
